Mushroom Cloud Press was started by Joe Gallagher in 2000 A.D. The company’s mission is to publish great original pieces for students participating in dramatic events in the various forensics (speech & debate) leagues. Recently, MCPress has also begun to provide scripts to high school drama departments. We aim to provide a starting point for young authors and young performers alike. Forensics competitions can be a valuable part of the education and social lives of many middle- and high-school students, and we will continue to do all we can to enrich that environment.
Privacy Policy
Mushroom Cloud Press will not provide your email address to any third party for any purpose. We will not email you for anything unrelated to an order or a question you have sent us. If you’ve requested to be added to our mailing list, or have ordered plays from us, we will send you updates about new plays and sales from time to time. Any request to be removed from this list will be honored immediately. We do not store or give out any other personal information. All credit card transactions are handled by Yahoo Small Business, one of the most trusted companies for online shopping.

Got a script you think would be perfect for forensics? We’re always looking for new writers with fresh funny stuff or dramatic depth. Here’s what you need to send us:
* The script (no longer than a one-act, 8-to-15 minute lengths greatly preferred)
* Your snail mail address
* A brief (one paragraph) bio of yourself
* A brief (one paragraph) summary of the script
The script should be in Word format. Attach it to an email and send it to:

After you order your plays, you'll be given a link. You can then download them as a zip file. Windows and Apple computers can automatically open these files. Inside, there are Adobe PDF files (which require free software that can be downloaded here), as well as a Microsoft Word file featuring all the plays' descriptions.
Once you have purchased your sets of plays, you will see an orange button on the confirmation page to download. For some paypal accounts, you will be asked to confirm your e-mail address at the bottom of this confirmation page before the orange button appears. If you accidentally miss the download link, you will automatically receive an order e-mail with a link back to the confirmation page.
How long does it take for printed plays to arrive?
Typically plays arrive 5-10 business days from the day you order them.
Can I get them faster?
Yes! Get an instant download and the plays can be downloaded as soon as you order them. We do not offer express shipping. We highly recommend you order your scripts early and give yourself plenty of time to prepare for competition.
Can I order your scripts anywhere else?
Yes, from Debate Champs.
Can I call or fax you?
Mushroom Cloud Press only communicates with its customers via e-mail, in order to ensure the fastest, most reliable service while continuing to maintain our ridiculously low prices. Don't worry, we check our e-mail compulsively, just like you.
Can I return plays for a refund?
If you mistakenly order duplicates of plays, Mushroom Cloud will be happy to refund your money. Additionally, if your order comes to you incomplete, if plays arrive damaged or are lost in the mail, we will work to replace those plays as quickly as possible.
At this time, Mushroom Cloud Press cannot offer refunds for plays based on their content.
Can I get a sample of a play?
Although we want to help get your students the best pieces possible, Mushroom Cloud Press cannot offer free samples of plays at this time. Larger playhouses such as Dramatists and Samuel French require that you purchase a sample copy of the script; in order to remain competitive, we require the same. If you would like more information on a piece, however, please email us – we’ll be happy to answer your questions on any topic, and will gladly provide more details on a script’s plot and characters.
Is this play appropriate for my students?
Mushroom Cloud Press offers a wide variety of plays on a wide variety of topics. There are many different standards for different leagues and regions. None of Mushroom Cloud Press's scripts would be rated higher than "PG-13" at the movies, so we believe they are all appropriate for teenagers to view and perform. As previously stated, Mushroom Cloud Press cannot offer refunds if customers are unhappy with the content of plays. This would be the same as giving out a sample copy, something that we cannot do.
